2018-19 SWISD Community Ed Brochure is now available

Start with Hello Week
During the week of September 24–28, hundreds of schools and youth organizations from across the United States participated in Sandy Hook Promise’s third annual Start With Hello Week including Sun Valley Elementary. Start With Hello Week brings attention to the growing epidemic of social isolation in our schools and communities and empowers young people to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school. Start With Hello teaches students, grades 2-12, the skills they need to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation. The campus had a theme day for everyday this week to include: Start with Hello day, Post-its of Positivity day, Wear Green Wednesday, No One Plays Alone day, and Random Acts of Kindness day. School Counselor Mrs. Cerna also met with students throughout the week to teach students about the topic. Please see some pictures of our fun filled week!
